I used to post there infrequently to argue with all the weird conservative, religious types that roamed the now-closed "off topic" board. I mean, Homestar hasn't been cool for, like, years, so I mean what should have I expected?

During various former .net members were whining, and quitting H*Rules. I knew .net would never come back. Sad, but true, and people should accept the fate of change. MAYBYE one day, there may be hope in that .Net may return. As I heard, it was an awesome place. Simon abandoned us on Rules, that was HIS mistake. Thank God for Ivy, for keeping this forum alive. In memory of Rules, and .net. Some seasoned .net people are still here such as our 2 aussies, and some others. Sadley I came in closely after .net was closed.
I still miss Rules, really I do. But, really we ALL must accept change. UNLESS there is SOMEONE who can BUY the web domain . edu, etc. OR www.homestarunner.net
Basically, stop lamenting, buy a similar webdomain. All will be happy. I TRULY mean no rudeness, or dis respect, just adapt, improvise, and overcome the situation. I really still love you all. Bless you. _________________ MY BARF is TASTIER than Yours!!!

i lurked there a bit, but i didn't have the guts at that time to wander into the political boards, mostly because i wasn't very good at framing philosophical arguments and whatnot at the time. now, i feel hella capable of it... but it seems fucking futile to actually talk to most people about shit like that.
also i generally approve of obama but i can't say that i am "omg you are fucking awesome man" over anything in particular. and usually if i do get excited i get less excited as time goes on, i.e. the whole guantanamo bay thing.
so, uh, yeah dave i don't got a good answer _________________

Marc basically gave the domain over to them after the .net plans officially fell through. He figured if anybody could do something with the domain, it'd be them. Seems like they haven't done anything. I think the domain is cursed. =P

I don't know how many of you remember, but .net at one point actually had everything it needed to return to its former glory. A acquaintance of marc actually donated some servers to us.
What ultimately prevented it from happening, though, was that we started getting some ideas on how to improve the site. You know, be something other than just a forum. marc wanted the site to be full of content, and basically be like a huge resource for HSR info that he said would "blow the pants off the wiki". However, he had to make brand new software from scratch to do what he wanted, and he never had to time to do it. So, the whole plan fell through.
What ultimately caused the downfall of .net was our own ambition.
Lesson learned, when running a website, don't be afraid of non-invasive advertising and don't try and top a wiki.

TRUE, ZD. I guess we have to deal the cards we are dealt with. HEY, but STILL we as S&V, as a forum WE are STILL ALIVE. Alot of the sometime former "net" crew, AND some of the H*Rules crew are HERE! Which is actually still awesome. I HONESTLY wish I would've shared in H*R.NET, BUT Sadly, came in at the end of it, which was H*Rules. My apologies to you ZD for pre judging ".net". I am glad that we have our little spot at S&V, that is a small reminder of a forum, that was so once was a great forum such as H*Rules, stemming from .net
I am sure that our 2 Aussies, and other former ".net" members will agree that someday we will RISE. But until then, Socks and Vinegar will continue the legacy of a once awesome forum. I SUPPORT S&V. Bless all y'all _________________ MY BARF is TASTIER than Yours!!!
