Well, it's nice to see that Macs are taking a step towards being actually useful, but PCs are still much more easily customizable, so Apple still loses. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

mac is better
How is Mac better when their main production line is going to a long-time PC manufacturer?
I have an ASUS motherboard. I guess that puts my hardware on par with Macs, right?
New Macs are just a PC with a special chip that unlocks the DRM on OSX now. Nothing more. You can also download OSX with the DRM disabled and install it on any recent PC. Apple charges premium prices for standard hardware, and gets away with it by crippling their software. GG, Apple.
Apple should just let go of the proprietary hardare altogether. It's proven time and again to be inferior, and now the only proprietary thing is an unlocking chip anyway. Just get rid of it, ffs. Apple knows they can't compete on an even field with Dell. So what do they do? Make their software only run on "their" hardware, so if you want the "OSX experience", you must buy their marked-up ASUS notebooks! Apple also knows that if they open their software and try to compete directly with MS, they will no longer be able to accuse MS of monopolistic practices. Also, people would stop buying Mac hardware, which produces a large chunk of their income, simply by marking up the prices. And the ability to run OSX on a PC wouldn't magically make people switch to OSX, Apple would be out a lot of money with no gain in market share. Apple finds it much better to hold a monopoly over a small, insignificant market than to compete on a larger open market. And who can blame them? Dell and MS would trounce them. _________________

getting trounced by Dell would be the ultimate insult. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck
