Yeah, but moving around keeps the SSB feel to it. Perhaps the characters could be miniatures? 
Or we could just think up some other way to do it. |

Right, and the fact that no one has heard of it shows that that's not a really good idea.
On a seperate note, a miniatures game based on the trophies would be kind of interesting too...

Hmmm...
I dunno. But who would be king for the mushroom kingdom? Mario would have to be Rook, king is too weak. Luigi would be bishop, toad pawns, yoshi knights, Peach queen... |
