Last year I got some crappy internet filter thing. It kind of sucks and is getting on my nerves. Rockman and I were aching to find a solution, almost got there, and got terribly tired of it. I need ways to get past this awful thing, and for all Rock and I know, proxy servers are all blocked. There is a door prize and many other prizes for the winner and the other contributors.

This thing's the devil. It's blocking EVERYTHING that has the slightest chance of stopping it. I tried to host a circumventor on my windows computer but all in all comcast pulled a suck. We need help with this.

if you knew my internet connection at college, you wouldn't ask such silly questions.

Plus, the only machines I have avaliable for servering are Linux now.

it's too bad Aero's proxy is down with Rules.

Questions:

1.) is this on the local machine, or a remote filter?
2.) if it's on the local machine, what is the machine's role? (classroom computer, your computer, etc...)
3.) This kind of follows from 2, but, if necessary, can you open the case and poke around inside(it's related to getting around it, I swear)?

I don't know how to get it on your own proxy. It only showed how to use your computer as a server.

I repplied RIGHT after you posted. So pretty much I was replying to the post above.

I'm pretty sure Nos has cyper patrol, and I don't think he can get into it. We've been trying to get past it.

Now if some one could just host a circumventor...

This is probably a dumb question, but why do you need to get around the filter? There are only a handful of reasons I can think of for trying to get around an internet filter:

It's blocking stuff for dumb reasons - Newgrounds poses no real threat to national security, doesn't really have anything you could call "er0tic" and there's nothing to pirate since it's all free, but an internet filter might block it for its pr0n ads.
File-sharing - You might just have to find other ways to get this stuff, like get people to burn it to CDs for you (stepping lightly past the piracy issue), unless you're going for. . .
Pr0n, in which case you're either resourceful enough to get it by other means or you're not mature enough for it anyway.

What's the big deal?

yeah, it should be easy enough to circumvent... just do what Beyonder said. Download an ISO of Knoppix, DSL or Anonym.OS, burn it to a CD, and start the computer with the CD in the drive. The computer will boot from the CD and won't be running the filter... unless the filter's not part of the computer.
