We watched Troy today, and it's great when my teacher pops in and goes "THAT'S SO WRONG" and all of the inaccurate parts.

That's why I never see Hollywood movies on historical events.

I have no summer reading. Huzzah!

Meh. They just want us to read the giver. Great book, but a little short for the whole summer. It's a novella.

I read that for school effing sixth grade.

I read it in sixth grade as well. I liked it up until the end. I don't like unclear endings. I read it in one day, and went to bed very angry that night.

I don't know if I'll get any summer assignments, as I haven't signed up fer classes yet. I don't think I'm even registered fer my new school yet. Lucky fer me I don't have to read the books my English class this year was assigned ( they were books I didn't care fer ), as I won't be returning to this school. Woot.

Are you sure that your teacher wasn't me?

Akilleus living to see the Trojan horse, Ajax dying within twenty minutes... oh God, why?!

My summer reading is mainly centered around learning German.

And then some:
Pablo Neruda
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Mark Twain

Oh, God, I love Pablo Neruda.

Ceze, are you going to read those in English or Spanish? I read 100 Years of Solitude, great book... but I don't think I could handle it in Spanish. 'course, I'm not a native speaker.

I never saw Troy. I read the Odyssey but I never read the Illiad... which one's better?

I'm soooo glad I'm staying in Guelph this summer, because now I get to take books out from the University Library!!! It's so exciting, because there are sooooooo many books in the 'brary that I want to read. Right now I'm reading this massive book, which is cutely titled "A Short History of Quebec". Lately I've been obsessed with Quebec. I'm thinking of becoming an even MORE specific Historian, and focusing on Quebec history, instead of just Canadian history.

I really want to tackle some great literature as well, this summer, so if you guys know of some great books, hit me up with ideas! Here are my suggestions for you:

Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee
The School for Scandal (a very short, very funny play) by Richard Brinsley Sheridan
Pardise Lost by John Milton (you have to read this at least once in your life)

Both.

For Neruda, it's only in Spanish. I read 100 Years Of Solitude in English, but I'm reading another of his books, Memorias De Mis Putas Tristes (Memories Of My Sad Bitches).
