It's impossible for any bug to crawl into your ear and eat your brain. They could never eat through the skull.

the worst way to die would be to not die, forever living, all your friends, every single one dead, no family, having to constantly move so that the governemnt doesnt catch wind of you and consider you to be worth disecting,
seeing both the triumphs and downfalls of humankind until there is nothing. either that or being burnt alive and feeling your skin melt and your blood boil before dieing in excrutiating pain.
