for those not "in the know", he just vetoed the bill to federally fund stem cell research, going against the wishes of over 70% of the american people and 63 senators. i guess he finds it immoral along the lines of the abortion debate
curing diseases is overrated, it seems. _________________

Bush is a bit more concerned about the war than anything right now me thinks. Besides, he's a Republican, remember? _________________

hate it, hate it, hate it. especially because i know someone personally who could easily be cured of a terrible muscular disease with the use of stem cells. good job, mr. president. _________________

I've never believed a child is actually "alive" until the cord is cut.
Thats why I say if a woman wants to get an abortion, It's still technically her body, she has the right to do whatever she wants to do to her body. Once the cords cut, then sorry, you have a kid. _________________

yeah, but this isnt about abortion, it's about putting the already aborted embryos for good use instead of throwing them away in a trash can. _________________

and stem cell research can be conducted on embryos never even implanted in a womb, i.e. no chance of development.
I mean, I'm against abortion 'cause it's very probably murder,
but when you get into "the sanctity," that's taking it perhaps a bit too far.
Still, if it's 70% and 63 senators as you say, then the veto may be overturned. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

But still... he's not banning it, is he? No, he's just not funding it. If the government decides not to fund it, I'm sure some private company will swoop in, fund it, and then patent all the results so all the rich sick people will get cured. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

ok, crazy person.
anyway, i doubt private companies can pony up enough dough to actually make serious advancements in stem cell research. and i dont believe anyone has the guts to really spearhead something as major as that. if you do, go for it, son. _________________

I bought a New Yorker ages ago specifically because it had an article on Bush and science. Im'a go grab it and take a quote from it in a sec, but if you don't guess, I support federal funding of stem cell lines and I think this is a waste of Bush's one veto. :3 _________________
