I'm always impressed when anyone likes Eyes Wide Shut. That's the only Kubrick I haven't liked much at all. Strangelove is absolutely brilliant, though.

I loved A Clockwork Orange. Mostly for Anthony Burgess, but Kubricks did a good job keeping the movie really close to the book except for excluding the ending where the main character matures.

I like Eyes Wide Shut too.

I'm sorry that you don't, Der, but I'm HAPPY that Ethan does... and Robber should watch it if he hasn't :X.

mmmnope, don't like it.

I just don't like the way Kubrick does things.

Same with Tim Burton. Don't like his stuff either.

disliking Burton is a tad more justified.

However, if you don't like Ed Wood... !

Yeah, I always like finding another person that likes a movie that everyone hates. Or finding another person that hates a movie that everyone likes. Always awesome.

I don't like that one on principle...
Burton had the audacity to basically dub out Vince D'Onofrio.

What a jerk.

Funny because D'Onofrio's only good acting job (that I've seen) was in KUBRICK'S Full Metal Jacket.

i like the pacing as well. it set it apart from general science fiction fare, and i believe is more accurate to what it's really like in space. in other movies, space is little more than a zero-gravity earth where people have to where funny suits.

and yes, mindfucks are awesome.

D'Onofrio's best performance to date is Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

I was going to watch FMJ because of D'Onofrio, but someone started telling me about it and it really turned me off.

And I really hated the role they gave him in Men in Black, too. He played him well, but Edgar was just so bland.

So no, the actor doesn't make the movie.

I don't think I mind Spielberg all that much... Most other directors are fine by me...
but I don't like Kubrick or Burton.
