What's more, Christianity DOESN'T support hatred towards gays. If I recall, homosexuality is never blatantly called a sin in the Bible, just perverse...ness, and whether that means homosexuality or not is totally up to debate. Secondly, even if the Bible DID declare it a sin, it would still not be grounds for hatred. There's a whole slew of verses that criticize people who hate others for their sins: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," "Judge not lest ye be judged," etc. People IN religions can be hateful towards homosexuals, but that doesn't mean in the least bit that religion is fundamentally anti-gay. I don't know much about Judaism or Islam, or any other major world religion for that matter, but Christianity definitely isn't. It's stupid people that make it look like it is. And then there's the smaller religions of the world, of which there are thousands. I would be willing to bet that many of them don't give a darn about sexual preference- heck, I'll bet a few are even anti-heterosexuality.

It's fine when you're not married, but it's difficult to keep marriage to yourself.

steveo could probably correct me on this, but since it's in the old testament and it's in a book that a lot of modern christians take metaphorically, I don't understand why they use it as 'evidence', since there are a billion other phrases in the bible saying how god loves everyone.

i mean, since when was marriage a christian invention? it's been around since before recorded history. NO religion should drag it down, but it's too extreme to ban religion, since most people use it fine and not to any ridiculous extent.

as i've always believed, it is dickheads that use religion as an excuse to promote the unrelated things they want, such as war or homophobia.

oh and as a side note, I agree with the other things elton says in the article.
