You won't find that many people who use ruby. While object oriented scripting langauges are nice and all, I think anybody developing a large application with a scripting language should be shot in the face. That said, ruby will most likely only be used for things like log parsing and web development. Perhaps plug-ins, but perl already has that spot covered. In fact, perl pretty much has all three of those things covered. Does ruby do it better? Maybe, but not well enough to make people want to switch.

I don't know, I kind of like using Ruby. I have no idea how to embed it into a web page though.

Even if it's totally useless, it's still pretty good to know.

Embedding ruby in a webpage would work basically like any other CGI application. It's not so much useless as it just overlaps a lot of perl's strengths, but is also not perl. Some say it's better, some disagree. Either way, it doesn't have a chance right now. People who are experienced in perl aren't just going to switch to using ruby overnight, but as they retire and new programmers take their places, if ruby is considered better by a majority of them, it will slowly gain popularity.

I've never tried to embed this kind of thing into a page Sad

I've never embedded scripting farther than the casual php and javascript.

Any suggestions?

Uh, can you direct link to the embedding of the program?
