it's ultra-shiny, but if you already have an MP3 player and any recent cell phone, there's no benefit to getting it.

And also, like Mav kinda pointed out, you don't seem to care about the rediculous price tag of this little thing, but you guys tore into Sony for marketing a big video game console for the same price.

if the PS3 is overpriced, this thing is waaay outta line. There is no way this thing costs anywhere NEAR $600 to make. Touchscreens aren't THAT expensive, and neither are big LCDs.

The screen size on this is 3.5", with a resolution of 320x480. The PSP's screen for comparison is 4.3". with a resolution of 480x272 . The PSP costs $200. That of course, also covers the cost of the UMD drive and 333mhz-capable processor, which is probably not at all necessary for the iPhone, unless Apple REALLY fails at optimizing an OS.

I can't find any information on exact numbers of a cost of a multi-touch screen that size, but every resource I found discussing multi-touch screens has hailed them as low-cost. I doubt a tiny multi-touch screen would jack the price up that much.

And it looks like Apple is walking headfirst into a trademark infringement lawsuit as well.

THIS is the iPhone. It's been out since 12/18/2006. It costs $180-$200, and it's a VoIP device. I hope Cisco Systems sues the crap out of Apple.

also i don't give a shit about cell phones and i will admit this is sexy but it is rather expensive, ne.
isn't the touchscreen multitouch, wouldn't that make it more expensive?

i probably won't be buying this.

I definitely agree that it's way too expensive for a phone, I just didn't mention it in my last post.

I think that the whole "cell phone as a multimedia device" is stupid. It's a marketing ploy by the phone companies to sell more plans while getting some extra money.

I can see getting the iphone by thinking of it more as a handheld computer, but not as anything else. And the fact that they're making it exclusive to Cingular will probably keep more people from buying it.
