I have canines for a reason. I use them.

I can understand folks going Vegan for political reasons, but I'm not sure I understand the viewpoints of those that do it for dietary reasons. I'm a fan of protein myself.

I can understand most arguments about people eating meat. Whatever. That is pretty natural for human beings. However, I don't think there is a damn natural reason for humans to consume dairy products.

That's why I'm vegan and not pussy-vegetarian.

wait, now what's wrong with dairy products?

and I think it's pretty much natural for humans to eat whatever they find to be edible. Eating things seems to be one of our main skills.

Well let's see.

Cooking food isn't natural, driving cars isn't natural, clothes aren't natural, soap, and those types of products aren't natural, toilet paper isn't natural. Seeing doctors isn't natural. Using the internet? Totally not natural.

So do you also not do those things?

Probably at least a couple. You know why? Because nature sucks, and if you only do what humans have a natural reason for doing, your life would suck as much as nature does.

And for once (god help us) I can actually say that Tony has a point there.

You also have mostly-vestigial body hair, so do you also refrain from wearing clothes? It's true that human gastronomy is best suited to an omnivorous diet, but human incisors are vestigial.

Maybe because we're mammals, and mammals produce and consume milk?

I've had this discussion before: "no other adult animals drink milk!", which is false. Consider this: how exactly would another adult animal get milk to drink? It's easy when you're a human with a huge brain and domesticated dairy animals. Not so easy when you're a raccoon... but they'll still choose the Velveeta over the tomato in your garbage.

Plus, adult mammals have been widely observed suckling (or attempting to) at lactating females, and many animals will consume any dairy products they are given (think of the bowl of milk you give your cat). So it appears that adult animals will drink milk and consume dairy products, if given the opportunity. And why not? They're rich in fats, proteins, and vitamins.

The way I see it, there are pros and cons to eating meat on a personal, dietary level, and one doesn't really outweigh the other. On an animal-rights eating meat is across-the-board a no-no, but you have to believe that animals have rights. And on an economic level, there are a lot of fucked things going on in the way meat is produced (and the sacrifices made in order to produce so much of it), but these things are national issues of money, efficiency, and policy, instead of personal ones.

Do any animals drink the milk of other species during adulthood though? Aside from domesticated animals, since they'd probably drink anything you give them.

And please pardon me for being presumptuous, Mike, but "I'm-better-than-you-because" rhetoric never helps any cause, no matter how positive or justified it might be.

Look what happened to straight-edge.

You can't be self righteous about not cooking your food. Or at least it's alot harder. That's why he only sticks to nature when he can brag about it.

I don't use soap. I'm so much better than you.

If they can get it, yes, but how would they?

And humans drink the milk of bovines (cattle, sheep, goats) because they produce large quantities of milk for their biomass, are easily domesticated, and because human females have stuff to do other than hanging around and being milked.
