When you think about it, the choice is absolutely brilliant. From YouTube, LiveJournal, Wikipedia, and Facebook, this is going to be the most well-recorded generation to date. Imagine your children being able to freely read what you did today twenty years from now. People can compare life then to now, especially as we take hold of this newfound technology where we can imprint our ideas, thoughts, creativity, and opinions onto this vast sphere of knowledge.
You'll be able to go back and remember these years perfectly thanks to digital photography, videos, sound, and more. What was 2006 to each of us is uniquely presented, yet the whole picture is there, strengthened by the massive contribution of the internet population.
While I am on this subject, please, please learn about Net Neutrality and what some members of Congress propose regarding our freedom around the net. It's absolute terrifying, but it doesn't seem to be a frontal issue with anyone. No one wants to pay more to access any website as fast as AOL.com or Time/Warner.
Congratulations to Time Magazine for choosing their winner over possible choices such as terrorists, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President Bush, some corporation, politician, or anything else and instead went with something shaping the world's culture. I think I might start a blog sometime soon.
