Yeah, but that wasn't all that worked so well in the first one. It was that it was also funny and inspired. In case anyone forgot, the second one didn't work. It's a very good example of having lots of film but not enough entertainment to fill it up.
And in case filmmakers still haven't learned their lesson (apparently they haven't), basing a movie on the phrase "Hey, wouldn't it be freaky if. . . ?" is a hit-and-miss proposition. A lot of times, it is only enough for a one-shot joke or comic strip, but not enough for, say, an entire novel, or series of novels, Isaac Asimov be damned.
