So as you may or may not know, I'm not very religious. At all. Sure, I say "Jesus Christ" and all, but to me, it's the same as saying "holy crap".

Anyway, I've never held steady church attendance, and have only gone out of respect for friends, but it's not something I enjoy, really. The thing is, I have a friend that's super-religious and often tries to get others more into religion, and he can't believe how an agnostic friend of mine can be that way. Such things haven't led me to question faith or anything like that, it's only made me sort of mad because while I don't believe that stuff and can't see how other than ignorance this could take hold, I feel sort of violated, shall we say, when people try to preach things to me.

Yes, I believe Jesus existed, it's proven by Roman texts, but I have a hard time thinking that he did all that jazzy stuff (eh). While he could've been the John Lennon of his time, I don't think anyone has super powers, etc. Maybe it's my logic-driven mind, I don't know.

One of the most burning questions I've really not asked too many people is: what's wrong with all other religions? The Romans believed (or as Virgil wrote), that people that were to be born lived in the Underworld, as Aeneas sees the future bringers of peace, Julius and Augustus Caesar. He saw Hector as killed by Achilles - slaughtered and in pieces since he had been dragged throughout the city. But apparantly, since no one (to my knowledge) believes in this philosophy, this is no longer valid. What happened to the souls of our ancient heroes? Were they all shoved in Christianity's Heaven and Hell? And what about contemporary religions? Are they wrong? What makes one better than another if they all teach the basic principles that I can take from my own, personal morals? Why the fanfare, why the parading?

... if you read that, thanks. I just had some tension for some reason. You guys can discuss it or whatever, try to object to my ideas, answer my question, whatever. I just don't need religion. Confused

Dante tried to make up for that whole "baptism or hell" thing by saying the souls of the unbaptized who still lead righteous lives just lead boring afterlives.

I mean, what if when we die, our brains just turn off, and that's it? Not to rain on any parades, but seriously.

which can be a bad thing or a good thing.

Man, doesn't it suck that there's only one way to find out, and that's a one-way ticket?
