Here's something else I'm not getting- They clearly said that Zaraki is the strongest of the 13 Squad Captains, but Ichigo managed to draw with him all the same. Later though, he has to achieve Bankai before he can even hope to defeat Kuchiki, and even after he achieves Bankai he still can't beat Aizen. What the heck?

I think it's more like, Zaraki has the most raw reiatsu out of all the captains.

I don't think that what I said was much of a spoiler. If you're just starting the series, you don't even know who Aizen is, and during the Soul Society arc they constantly imply that he could have faked his death, meaning that you might see him fight anyway.

And that's also a good point. Although it still doesn't explain Kuchiki.

Well, I'm thinking the same thing Sean said. I mean, Byakuya's Bankai (and Shikai, for that matter) are pretty damn lethal. Whereas Zaraki has to actually hit his opponent, Byakuya can just use his Shikai/Bankai and win.

Yeah, that'd be my guess as well. It probably also has something to do with Zaraki's high tolerance for pain.

Also, do we get to see more of the still living Squad Captains later?

I started reading Death Note today and am already finished with Volume 2. It's very addicting.

Death Note is excellent. It's smart, I like the art even though it's not fantastic, it's fun, it's dangerous, it's just totally fucking awesome.

Is the anime of Bleach better than/as good as the manga?

I (think I) read something about a Death Note movie/anime (?) in one of the comments for Vile's DN entry. I can't remember exactly what it was. :\
