Holy shit, that was the most brilliant movie I've ever seen. Or at least in a while...
Amazing. _________________

There's not a whole lot of explody bits either though. My boyfriend was disappointed, in that regard. _________________ Yep.

That's what I came in expecting too, but I still loved how the movie came out. Its too bad that not all of my friends can enjoy an intelligent flick like this. |

I saw it last night. There were quite a few changes to the story- mosty cutting out some stuff that wasn't too important. I thought the end where Quote: | V sends everyone a mask | was a bit cheesey, and the book conveyed the same message without doing that. Another change that I thought was wonky was Quote: | the showdown towards the end where V is confronted by a circle of police that all shoot him and he kills them all Matrrix style.
Boo.
In the end of the book, the detective- who took acid and went to Larkham the evening before -(the acid was only implied in the movie) runs into V in the tube station, still disoriented from the drugs, and shoots him once with a revolver. V stabs him once with a knife. I know it's not good action movie fare, but somehow I prefered it to the ninja-like super hero crap in the movie.
Also the best part of the book was when Evie looks in the mirror at the very end and smiles, only to realize that her smile is exactly the same as the mask. I don't mind this not being in the movie, I just missed it. |
Aside from those minor grips (they really are minor), the movie did capture the feel and message of the book quite well. _________________
