I like bands with unique vocals. I'm sick of hearing Emo voice A and B, Punk voice A, even classic rocker voice 1 and 2.

Rock instrumentals get tedious as well, sometimes. Though I do enjoy a good western-style instrumental.

Regardless, REM is good.

Rock instrumentals are good, and if you can't tell the difference between classic rock singers then don't listen and stick to your light metal.

No, that's not what I meant. Some people are trying desperately to revive 80s rock, but they all sound like the same 2 singers.

Also, I must have had this page up a while, because an assload of posts were put in between what I'd written and what I saw. It didn't seem quite so off topic at the time.

Oh.

I don't consider the 80's classic, but in that context I see where you're coming from.

Uh? Which world do you live in? How many bands out there are constantly aping material from Led Zeppelin, KISS, Black Sabbath, The Stooges, The Who, etc. Cripes, The Who just put out a new record last year. Granted, Entwhistle and Moon are dead, but still.

Where you been?

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I seem to have a core of music that was made in the 70's, then very few bands today that sound like them. Most of the ones that are supposed to be similar either have horrible vocals or don't sound anything like them.

If you could point me to some good ones, I'd be very grateful. Dead.

To say "what bands sound like 70s bands" is a pretty sweeping question. The seventies had a lot going on, as far as musical styles. The drug culture and experimentation of the late sixties set the stage for the explosion of musical styles during the 70s and early eighties. "What modern bands take after [band name here]" would be a better way to go about it.

Alright.

What modern bands take after The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, or Jimi Hendrix.
