I would like that, too... were it foolproof. But it isn't. There is always the possibilty that they might escape.

BUT, I THINK THEY SHOULD DO LONGER TIME (c'mon 20 years is a load of shit)

I doubt you really know what being a humanitarian means then. You'd rather someone rot in a cell then die? Nice. I like to bullshit sometimes too.

I like the idea of gladiator fighting. That way these fucking hippies can't say "we're no better for killling the murderers!" Yeah. We didn't. It was the killer who killed the killer Razz

Let's hope they don't break away and form a resistance, though. We don't want another Spartacus on our hands, do we Crassus?

I'd say yes, but only in circumstances with absolutely concrete evidence to prove the acused is guilty. Like, just short of a confession evidence. If you put someone who's innocent away for 20 years and 10 years later you realise they didn't commit the crime, you can release them with compensation. Sure, that's ten years of thier life that they're never going to get back but hey, at least they arn't dead.
Two things:
1. Prisons are not safe or healthy environments. They lose a lot more than ten years of their life. They may also use their ability to operate in normal society. Heck, with prison violence, they may even lose their life...
So you're not really preventing anything or saving anyone.
2. Since the death penalty was re-legalized in the late 70's, there has been no evidence that anyone we've executed was innocent.
and forensics is only getting better.

Either way is acceptable to me. After all, there are many things worse than death...

Against. We had quite a nice little chat on this over at Rules... maybe I'll say some things later when I have more time.

Also, Davey Sneak, your narrowminded, ass-backwards worldview is old. Hang it up.

Personally, I'm against it. An eye for an eye doesn't work with my religion/beliefs (as gay as that sounds Devastated.).

Calling someone's worldview ass-backwards while also calling it narrowminded. A little too ironic. Yeah I really do think.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind is bullshit.

You'd rather have people who take eyes from people who don't deserve to be blind go unpunished?

Then we'd have eye thieves who can see and a bunch of blind people who didn't do anything wrong.

no, screw that.

Remember, a bleeding heart leads to lightness of head. Maybe my heart would rather bleed for innocent fetuses than hardened killers.

He just tossed it in so eventually when things get off topic, he can lock it and act like he won. It's loosely related but honestly there was no reason to mention it.

ANYWAY, of the death penalty, I think the answer is simple. In an ideal world, innocent people don't get convicted, but since they do, and this isn't an ideal world, they aren't executed immediately. They sit on death row for a long time. If you don't want to be executed, don't KILL PEOPLE.
