I really didn't get into Cash. He had a few songs I liked, but I never listened to much. I really should see Walk the Line soon. D:

For comparsion, here's the nine inch nails version: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8fPzGMTGN5g&search=hurt

Lol.

They're magical.

Bonnie, I understand what you're saying about this video being meant to be like a sob one, and I don't really agree. I think that those videos like Celine Dione's "My heart will Go On" are meant to be sob videos and that's why they suck. This video, on the other hand, I believe, is geniuine depression and pain. He doesn't do it to make money or to make people cry, I truly believe it came out of the bottom of his misery.

Man Ces, I never knew you respected the man so much. The video's emotional impact was only heightened when June Carter Cash died two months after its filming and Cash himself died four months later. The "Hurt" video stands as an appropriate retrospective of Cash's life. "Hurt" was given the 2003 Country Music Award for Video of the Year and the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video.

Mom met Johnny Cash and June when they were in Oceanside before I was born. Mom and I used to listen to the old country records when I was a kid. I loved Johnny Cash's music, and it was very sad when he died. It was on my birthday.

Damn Shocked The NIN version is cool but creepy as hell. I loved the speeded up decomposition vid clips. Goregasm has alot of those but in colour

I went through a Woody Guthrie phase, is that close enough?

Answer: Yes, it's close enough.

I thought this was the most depressing video ever. Or hilarious. Still haven't made up my mind.

I dunno, I don't really like this video. Not depressing to me, and not funny, either. It was just "well, that was a long video." Didn't like how it just dragged along.

I loved his music, so I just am going to ferget this video. I'm gonna agree with what Boyo said, cause his older stuff is really great. This isn't.

I remember coming back from Pa. to visit my folks for a week and they had Cash's "Burning Ring of Fire" playing on the headphones as we were taking off. It was funny, and most unsettling at the same time.

and now for my thoughts on the video:
It was okay. I liked it enough. But I kinda don't like how Cash sings it... I prefer his "normal" style over this, from what little I've heard.
