Tell that to my Feraligatr who's been ruining teams single-handedly. The only starters that aren't really that good are Venusaur and Meganium, which is a shame because aside from their relatively decent movepools, their typing murders them. |
No, I meant Piplup and Prinplup, not Blastoise/Feraligatr/Swampert, who are all awesome. I clarified on AIM but I felt I should do so here.

So I just got Pokemon Diamond yesterday and I love it way too much to not bump this thread and stuff.
I accidentally let my Shinx evolve into Luxio just about an hour ago. I'm not sure if I like this or not, but she and my Turtwig are my main two at the moment, anyway.
I one-shot each of the first gym leader's pokemon. That was pretty awesome. Right now I have Luxio ( Marell ) at level 16 and Turtwig ( Maple ) at level 17.
So fun D:<
I think I might like Maple and Marell a bit too much considering that they're just... pokemon.

Hahaha, when I told my friend about it, I kept going on about my Shinx and how awesome she was... and he was like "omg stop it, yer making me want to go buy it D:" And he didn't even have a DS.
I recommend you get it anyway :D

I don't think I'm going to get the new version(s). Sure, the online battling and trading sounds cool, but I'm so tired of wasting time and not having any fun grinding levels on Sapphire. I can't see how a small jump to (not great) 3D and 100 new pokemon is going to make it any more enjoyable than previous versions. I think I'm ready for a change of gameplay in the series.  |

Yeah.. me too, now that you mention it. Except I won't, because I'm too used to easy navigation of menus and running/biking. Seriously, even something simple like looking up a pokemon's EXP is a hassle. |

Got it (Pearl) and a DS about 2 weeks ago. Currently training for the Elite 4. Right now I have 4 major pokemon. Torterra, Luxray, Palkia, and Rampardos.
After a couple trades, I obtained (at level 1) Totodile, Cynndaquil, Chickorita, and Chimchar waiting to be trained. I'll start those eventually. |

I'm leveling up a team from an egg now.
So far I have a spiritomb, a kadabra at level 25 (his special attack and speed are getting up there, woo!), and a few more.
I also caught a bunch of legendaries recently, so I'm having fun just running around and obliterating anything in my path.
I'm very proud of my kadabra though, he can take down some level 40s pretty easily, just as long as they don't have strong physical attacks against him.
I also never touch my Palkia/Dialga, they just aren't that appealing to me. Mewtwo is one of my favourites. He just learned Me First, which is amazing because it pretty much means that he'll jump in front of the other pokemon (turn wise, not literally), copy his attack and use it first with a greater strength.
Combine that with level 78, and he's pretty powerful.
What else, what else... Blah, I'm going to go play some on my new DS Lite! |

Online battles let you automatically scale your party to level 100. So no grinding involved as long as you aren't interested in IVs/EVs/Natures.

As I recall, the only time you really had to grind was to level up against the E4. The rest of the time, all the trainer battles between gyms was enough to get you through.
And heck, if you get stuck at the E4 I can just lend you some of my guys.
