| Just FYI, you have to listen to straight edge hardcore punk rock music and identify totally as member of the music scene as a prerequisite to properly call oneself "straight edge," regardless of how little drinking, smoking, and fucking you do. |

So wait, is or isn't fucking included in the straight edge package?
There's a reason I'm wondering about this-
I got into an argument with a straight-edge friend of mine (I actually don't really consider him a friend, or only sporadically so) over whether or not you can inject marijuana. We both decided that it were possible (liquidization) but when he brought up his "fact" that several people died from it each year, I had to call him stupid. I said "you straight-edge kids don't know shit." And then another SE kid called me stupid because I chose to abstain from sex with my girlfriend... once. Meaning that I was straight-edge for that.
At any rate, the argument of the deaths from pot injection turned out to be completely null, as all the side-effects have proven to be non-fatal, mostly just stomach aches.
And then I realized that the guy was culling his argument from a fucking SNL sketch.

| Fucking is the contentious part. While "drug-free" is pretty easy to understand, "promiscuous sex" is a pretty relative definition. Plus, sXe boys are all sluts. |

Another reason why I was so confused...
I think my favorite sXe moment I've heard of was when a friend of mine went to a show with a guy she met (sort of a date I guess), only to find out that he was sXe. She drinks a LOT. So after a few drinks this guy finds her, and instead of like suggesting that she stop, he rams his fingers down her throat and forces her to regurgitate her alcohol.
IT GETS BETTER!
A few months later another friend of mine saw him at a show... getting drunk.

| I don't actually follow the "straight edge movement" or "scene" in any way. I just use the term straight-edge since there's a lack of a proper label/term for the non-hardcore "lifestyle". |
