Ugh, you're so smug. We have several military officials that our military systems couldn't shoot down such an attack. No source, but if you life, you can search for it.

Yeah, but we're improving our missile systems, and there's always some chance we can intercept it... we might just get lucky.
Intercepting enemy missiles isn't that hard... it's just that the intercepting warhead must not only concentrate on where it isn't, but it's also got to know where the enemy warhead is going to be, and then try to match up a large swath of where it isn't to where the enemy missile isn't yet.

basically the intercepting missle has gotta aim to be in the path of the oncoming one... the easiest way to do that would be to have it predict the path of the oncoming one and travel along it.
we're not that good yet... a bit more sophistication in our satellite network and we will be.

Would be tough and I certainly wouldn't count on our missle defense system stopping any nuke. |

but it's a homing bullet that can correct its path...
and eventually, it'll be a computer aimed laser.
And at Gettysburg, I saw two bullets that had mashed into each other in midair.
Rare? Yes. But not impossible.
