there isn't a religion thread, and this is confined to the subject at hand, so there is no problem with it. _________________

| Evolution is fact. It is supported by OVERWHELMING evidence. If people understood it, they would see that it in no way conflicts with religious (even Christian) beliefs. Evolution is NOT the study of "how life begun" or whatever people think it is. It is merely studying the interaction of genes, the environment and behavior. Seriously, that is it. Everything in biology and medicine is reliant on this thing people seem to hate so much, but evolution can be demonstrated in the hospital, laboratory, even your house. If this isn't clear, I can explain it, but, man... this is a deal breaker when it comes to politicians and me. |

Though I think it is important to note that it's a theory and not a scientific law and blah blah blah scientists are probably right with this one. _________________

Isn't the only difference that the first one can't be absolutely, 100% proved beyond any microscopic shadow of a doubt, even though it's almost definitely true? _________________

Science is in constant motion. If you can disprove anything we believe we credible, falsifiable experiments, then you'll make a lot of money. God is not falsifiable by experimentation. _________________

This is turning into an entirely different discussion.
Summary so far: Hilary hates video games and is a woman.
Obama is black, smokes, and has a cool name, but not enough experience.
McCain is a kinda cool guy but is stupidly conservative on smaller issues and supports the teaching of ID.
Some other stuff I forgot. |

Can anyone name a Republican besides McCain that they would even consider voting for? _________________

If they stand for the right things and if they have the people's vote I say go for it.
If you just go and pick a random black woman off the street for presidency, I'd say you were screwed up in the head. |

Not to draw this thing out, but in science, a theory is an explanation for something based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning. Although in popular use, a theory is assumed to mean mere speculation, science people don't call something a theory until it has been confirmed over the course of many independent experiments. So, this whole "Oh, it's just a theory" crap is really just misleading, since... yeah, it is a theory, but a scientific theory means a lot more than a lot of people give it credit for.
Either way, I'll shut up and continue to be a non-partisan who always votes liberal |

Yeah... hearing "it's just a theory" from people who know nothing about science makes me want to fucking strangle them.
Anyway, I think this country could handle a black or female leader. I just think that it takes a great candidate. I think Obama is a great candidate... but I thought Wesley Clark was a great candidate in '04, and we got John Kerry. Not that John Kerry wasn't a decent candidate, but he certainly wasn't the best out of the nine (WTF? NINE?) candidates during the democratic primary.
On the side: Religion and politics are forever entangled in thie US, especially in the bipartisan days we live in. You of all people should know that, Steve, so discussion of religion fits comfortably in this thread. |

Joe Biden doesn't think so. But of course, does anybody besides me know who he is? _________________

the phone in responses were very enlightening. Some people made comments of Hillary freaking out with PMS and pushing the button, and some say that Obama will favor only the black community. Both, really ridiculous comments. Personally, if they can deliver what they say, I have no problem.

Oh, there was a third option: "I don't care. If either can run the country fine. It's ok with me." |
The problem is neither of them is qualified.

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't falsify generally mean to counterfeit or deceive? _________________ I'M A TARD |
