The only thing I found funny was when Cartman crapped treasure.

The whole Al Gore thing was stupid, anyway.

I had to use Wikipedia to figure out what they were making fun of with Al Gore. Turns out the guy is doing some crusade about Global Warming that I haven't heard about yet.

it would have been better if they didnt use al gore as the character, but rather a new character who paralleled Gore.

because the gore attack kind of seemed unprovoked.

If a new character was introduced, it'd be impossible to make a connection between what that character was doing and what Al Gore is currently doing. Sure, an attack on Gore was a little unprovoked, but all in good fun...and I loved the repetitive "Well, I feel kinda bad for him...I don't think he has any friends..." because I've said or heard others say the same thing about kind of sad, attention-craving people we know. I also liked how he kept bringing up that he was ex-vice president and smiling about it.

"Mr. Gore just wanted to make sure you all knew he was here..."

but they could have easily made it about a non-political figure, and it still would have been funny.

it felt to me that the quality of this episode was damaged because they were "digging the well" for people to make fun of. it was almost like they had to satarize something out of neccessity. i mean, was that really a good picture of Al Gore, or anything he stands for? Did he even deserve it? I dont think so. I mean, if he was say, getting attention for his global warming exploits (which i wasnt even aware of until this episode aired) i would understand why they were making fun of him. but he isnt on a high horse, so they have no reason to kick him, but they kicked him because they didnt have anything else to kick.

it was just lazy writing. instead of introducing an interesting character, they painted a way-too spun out of proportion characature of a man who hasnt been politically relevant for six years.

South Park's lately lacked a lot of subtle satire, like the ninja episode.

I think the new episodes have been great. I really don't see why everyone thinks this has been a bad season.
