'Sup fools? I know we all listen to music and stuff. I also know that we like getting our friends to listen to new bands and stuff. So how about this: we make a thread where we can make cool plugs for bands we're into. Preferably, these are bands that are a little obscure. Y'know, ones that you'd most likely have to find out about on a forum.

I'll start this off with some of the coolest guys ever, NONE MORE BLACK.

Official Site
MySpace
Dude, what's not to love about None More Black? Pft, right now they're all that's left good in the world of straight-up rock. Their sound is a little like alternative rock, except imagined through old hardcore kids (ex-Kid Dynamite, KYI...). What's left is awesome band who's not afraid to put on great shows, and is totally accessible to people with tons of varying tastes. Fuck, I've seen 'em play four times in the past year, all with different crowds still rocking out! Seriously, if you ever see them coming to your town, you have to check 'em out. YOU HAVE TO! I COMMAND YOU.

Just do it for Paul, the bassist, at least. He's a cool guy.

With a new album coming out in a few months, (which, by the way, I was accidentally leaked Cool. Apparently, Fat Mike hates it. First of all, fuck Fat Mike and his stupid band, and second of all, it's a great album) you have to keep your eyes and ears out for them.

Oh man, that reminds me.

PINK RAZORS.

(Hey, I recognize that picture! I was there! It was the farwell show for the Wow, Owls!)
MySpace
Featuring washed-up, old members of legendary bands Municipal Waste and Stop It!, Richmond's very own Pink Razors play semi-oldschool, but still totally righteous sounding pop-punk out of a Screeching Weasel vein. Also, I think they are on tour with Avail pretty soon. Check the dates, and come to their shows!

Death Cab For Cutie

Actually our own Ray got me into this band, with his 'We Laugh Indoors' video. I heard Soul Meets Body on the radio about a couple of month ago, and thought they sounded REMish, which is really cool. Shoutcast video has videos and streams of their music, so i watch the videos. Death Cab For Cutie got their name from a songs title which was performed by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, a band featured in the Beatles movie Magical Mystery Tour. It all works out. The Beatles, and REM are both bands that I love, and DCFC are really awesome.

Death Cab For Cutie is obscure? Confused

Sleep Terror is a instrumental death metal / jazz / prog band from California. It consists of a drummer and a guitarist. They're both insanely talented. Listen. Also, they're heading out on a US tour in the summer. I'm sad that it's not coming to Boston. Sad

i really hoped that was a hilarious joke when i first saw that, because this is obviously a thread for obscure/underground bands. and dcfc is pretty much the exact opposite. thus the humor!

Well, they sort of were before 2005.

Nonpoint (myspace)
Theory Of A Deadman
The Exies

I've seen all of them live, I'd especially recommend Nonpoint, they're most known for their song 'Bullet with a Name.'

Theory of a Deadman's song 'No Surprise' gets some airtime around here too.

The Exies' CD 'Head For The Door' is addicting but really unknown. Their best (most well known) song is 'Slow Drain.'

I'd seriously recommend some checking out.

Is Wolf Parade obscure enough? Cuz if they are, I'll tell you what they're like.

no dude, they were already pretty well known by 2003, when they released transatlanticism. not to mention, that's the year the postal service released give up, as well, so gibbard was definitely getting heard that year.

and i personally wouldn't consider wolf parade obscure, but then again, i'm a radio dj. i guess it's all relative.

Dir en Grey.

I know what you're thinking. Japanese crazies singing Death rock with a killer bassist and music videos that make you cringe?

Yeah.

I love them! Very Happy

...They're all guys by the way.
