Boris is not shoegazer. The first song on Pink, MAYBE. But they are not a shoegazer band at all.

As you know, I'm sure, I dig the shoegaze. Sean, I'm sure I've said this to you before, but the test is My Bloody Valentine's Loveless. If you don't like that, you probably needn't bother with shoegaze.

loveless is sort of archtypical shoegaze, but as far as I'm concerned, it's far from the best album in the genre.

sometimes, soon, I only said and when you sleep are great, rest is sort of ehh.

imo Isn't Anything is a better album, although it doesn't really gaze as much.

That might be true, and I feel like a lot of why I like Loveless is for sort of technical reasons. Still, though, I don't know how anyone could not love Only Shallow.

well yeah, it's impressive in that sense, I'm just saying it's probably not the best album for newcomers, despite what a lot of people say.

different styles, though I think Sean should listen to Kitchens of Distinction, they were good, and the frontman's gay so there's already a kindred spirit there

I've got every piece of vinyl the Cocteau Twins ever released... does that count? Whatever, I'm-a go listen to slowcore instead.

Codeine and Low own music, in the saddest way possible.

I thought shoegaze was only around in the 80s Razz Good band, though.

the Pale Saint's "you tear the world in two" is a great track to get a good hook on the genre without sitting through an entire album.

To pick an album (of which I have 5 under the genre in my library) I'll say Slowdive's Souvlaki

That's about the extent of my knowledge.

I'm feeling Jesus and Mary Chain. But I can only really get into "just like honey". M83 is nice, but they are more electronic.

Hey, Drop Nineteens weren't even around in the '80s. And Slowdive didn't form until like. . . '89. Speaking of, great album.
