I'm sure you all do, too.
But, Empy has a problem.
He does not know what books to read.

ITT: Suggest books.
Also, talk about books.

Firestarter.

A man dresses up in his wife's underwear, sticks his hand down a running garbage disposal, and masturbates to it.

Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Gaiman's style as a novelist is a little sketchy, but the story and ideas are great.

Creepy book, but cool.

Man, I've just started getting into Gaiman, and I can't believe I'm just now getting into him (especially since my ex-girlfriend nagged me to read him for so long, but let's not talk about that).

I had a friend who carried that book around just to show people the creepy/dirty parts.

There aren't actually that many creepy or dirty parts in it, so your friend is a loser.

I mean, on top of the obvious.

And while we're pimping books, I should mention that everybody here who hasn't read Ender's Game must read it or be publicly flogged.

It's been many years, but yeah. It was a good book.

If sci-fi is what's for dinner, then you should definitely try Asimov's Foundation (and its two sequels). Actually, I guess there are something like 15 books in that series, but Foundation is a good place to start.

What if we think all or most sci-fi is really lame? Because I fall into that category and I sure haven't read Ender's Game. I love Asimov and Huxley and Orwell (if the latter two even count) and L'engle, but almost everything else I've been forced to read is awful.

By that card, if you haven't read Nabokov, get Lolita and Laughter in the Dark stat.
