I got it.
It's pretty good, though I kinda hate how it still tries to show off the Wiimote.
Anyone else get it yet? _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

Picked up mine today after my shift, coin and all. I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a while, actually. And everything is so shiny and sparkly.
very very minor spoilers (gameplay not story)
I actually like most of the wiimote based stuff. The ray-surfing did have a tacked on feel but I really liked the ball galaxy. The waggle seems much better integrated into the game than TP. Shaking the wiimote to launch yourself through space just feels right. The star bit collecting is really fun as well.
I'm about halfway through the second dome, and I've beaten the first sweet galaxy, which was the only one so far that's been even a bit challenging. I would have left the one prankster comet in its path but it was a timed one and I hate timed levels. |

I hated the ray surfing... it wouldn't've been so bad if you could've held the remote a different way, but if you did, you couldn't hold the A button...
and the ball thing was tedious, I thought. If they ever make a Wii Katamari, it had better not control that way.
But yeah, the shake stuff I can live with.
I think underneath it all, I really detest games that make you move the controller around arbitrarily, (I'm looking at you, Folklore) but Super Mario Galaxy doesn't bother me much inthat department.
And yeah, it does look shiny. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

I was kinda sad that he didn't say "Thank you for to playing my game" like he did in Mario 64, but I got over it.
Now all I've got are hidden and comet stars left. I probably should save up my star bits, 'cause the comet moving Luma has got his work cut out for him. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

man, I'm at 110 stars... after the one I'm currently stuck on, all I'll have left are the comets.
Ugh, the comets. Daredevil on that ghost ship battle is not fun or fair.
The one I'm stuck on is that hidden star in the desert galaxy you get to from the bedroom.
No hints, though, I'm trying to get through the game without a guide. So far so good. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

I would say it's the true successor to Mario 64. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

I would say the best way to describe it is "Mario 64 on acid." These level designs make you want to explode with excitement. I've never played such entertaining levels in a Mario game. So every single one has been interesting. I'm doing the trial runs now and I've got it live on my Stickam. If you're interested in watching or talking to me, http://www.stickam.com/profile/delerious is the link to the camera and my AIM is listed on the forum. _________________

the last 10 stars are absolute murder. The purple coin star in that toy galaxy has GOT to be impossible, I still can't find the hidden star in the desert galaxy, and the purple coin star for that galaxy is tough too.
And I finally ran out of all the lives I got falling to my death repeatedly in Loopdeswoop.
But yeah, the level design is pretty awesome. There are some galaxies I absolutely love to death, like Sea Slide and... I did like the Toy galaxy, until the purple comet orbited it.
and there are about 3 I absolutely hate.
and now I'm stuck with them.
I've got 8 more stars to get, and I may never get them all. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

Heh, you gamed over on Loopdeswoop? I don't think I've gamed over yet. The closest I've come was maybe nine lives. I actually didn't think Loopdeswoop was that hard. It took me maybe three tries. I didn't get the best time, but I still got the star. Now, what WAS murder was that crazy ball course that was basically the Mario variation of the board game Mousetrap. I haven't had too many problems finding the secret stars. I think I have that Desert one you're talking about. If you gave me the name of the Galaxy, I could probably look and see. If I have it, I can at least give you the title of the star. Usually they're called something pretty relevant to what you had to do to get them...
Not really focusing on stars right now though. I just got the red star and I'm just taking my time around the observatory. The way he pauses in midair sort of reminds me of Superman before he lunges forward. He's even got a pseudo-heat vision graphic to accompany it. _________________

Tacofiend wrote: | Heh, you gamed over on Loopdeswoop? | no no no, loopdeswoop has those one-ups all over. So I'd get like 3, then die, then get 3 more, then die... by the time I beat the level, I was up over 50 lives.
I donated those lives to the toy galaxy's purple coin course, gamed over, and still haven't beat it.
As for the desert galaxy, Dusty Dune is the name. It's in the bedroom.
And yeah, the ball rolling course took me a few tries too.
5 stars left...
I assume the hidden star won't be too bad, and the last comet on Dreadnought... I don't expect those to be that hard.
I'm also trying to do the daredevil comet on the lava spire one... that's freakin' hard. I keep dying at that wall jump over the lava... Mario just won't jump off the wall, just to be contrary.
Heck, when I beat that one normally, I'm pretty sure I just lava jumped up that.
Not an option now.
EDIT: Beat that. Oh, and the Dusty Dune star is "Bullet Bill on your Back," which doesn't give much help until you find the area the star's in, which I just did.
3 stars left!
EDIT EDIT: Got the purple coins on Dreadnought.. it's not incredibly hard, but it is incredibly tedious. And I finally beat daredevil on the ghost ship... found a new way to catch those shells. Kinda feel dumb for not noticing it before.
All that's left is purple coins in the Toy Time galaxy, the most impossible star ever.
CHILD OF EDIT: Yeah, so I looked up Toy Time and found a video of someone getting all 150 coins on youtube... followed their path... ding!
Although, I guess now I've got 123 stars. And still counting. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

I think I have 90 at this time. I'm taking a break to beat Metal Gear Solid 2 and Fire Emblem (for the Gameboy). _________________
