I'll go with four as well. First three seasons weren't very good. 4 is where the show started to become great.

I never really liked the Season 4 episodes. They may show a coming of age, but I still don't think they're particularly good.

Season three has the really rugged animation of the first two seasons, and some really great episodes to boot. Like the Red Badge of Gayness. One of my favourites.

The later seasons are mostly better, though.

Four got my vote for Fingerbang. Three was close though, with The Red Badge of Gayness and of course Chinpokomon.

The only real reason season 4 was my vote was because of the "Trapper Keeper" episode
