How Brokeback Mountain managed to get in before Gone With the Wind is anyone's guess.

Can anyone else not wait for the best Film to Book adapation list?!

Oh, I'm glad to see Peter Benchley made it for Jaws. He has some good stuff, although after you read a few of his books about a giant shark/squid/unidentified creatue underwater trying to kill everyone, you start to sense a pattern.

I'd say because the list is in alphabetical order. Woozy

EDIT~I'm surprised that none of the James Bond books are on tha list. All of the books are very well done, and the movies are, well, classic.

I'm surprised you didn't see Goldfinger on there.

<.<

Whoops.

I haven't read that particular one, so I must have just passed over it. Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Casino Royale were great, though.

You mean the book, right? The movie they made out of it is a mess...
and the new version they're making is going to be a disaster.
I think the only good adaptation of Casino Royale was CBS's "Climax!" adaptation in the 50s, starring Barry Nelson as Bond.

Yes, the book. Is there even a movie for it? I thought that that was the only one they hadn't made a movie for, except for the spoof one, but now they're working on it.

But then again, I might just be rusty on my Bond facts.

They adapted Casino Royale to a live TV drama in 1950, back when 1-hour weekly TV dramas were big. I saw it, it was pretty decent.
Then in 1967, they made the movie Casino Royale, which started out as being about the book, but then the guy just wanted to go for a big production, and all semblance of plot got lost in the process.
and the new Casino Royale they're making is bound to be terrible. They picked a bad star, they changed the plot a bit to "modernize" it... most hardcore Bond fans anticipate hating it.

I want to see a list of 50 Worst Book-to-Films.

1: I, Robot
2: The Iron Giant
(ok, Iron Giant wasn't a bad movie, they just didn't adapt "The Iron Giant," they adapted a completely different giant robot book instead.)

3: The Tesseract
4: The Beach

I could make a living re-doing horrible Alex Garland book-to-movies.

I'm no film critic, but I'm somewhat surprised Jurassic Park isn't on the list.
