Um, I'd just like to say that I think fiction is important because any form or reading enhances a persons vocabulary and literary skills. I can tell, when I mark kids papers, who reads and who doesn't. It's a very stark difference.
Reading fiction makes you more intelligent. In my opinion.

hm, ok, that's right, I did. Still, I don't think we'd be in much trouble without those words, so while it was a significant contribution, it wasn't important.

He never said he hated fiction; just the opposite in fact. He simply said that it wasn't "important." 'Sides, I'm beginning to think more and more that the phrase "Devil's Advocate" applies to ITS more than usually thought.
