Mushroom Pie and myself had worked on this concept a while back and it just suddenly sprang back into my mind. What do you guys think of this idea? Yay? Nay?

I'll try and get together with MP and recover the old rules that we had compiled for it soon.

I do. But it's not really time travelling as much as the gang is just inside Yami no Yugi's memory world. Take that! Wink

If I remember right, Luke drove me crazy talking about this idea about a year or so ago. I'm a fan of TCGs (I play Pokemon and Magic mainly, though I've tried a few others) and I can safely say that about 99% of them never work at all. Did anyone know there was a Monty Python TCG? Well, there was. I used to play it. Only it sucked so they stopped making it. And does anyone remember that Harry Potter TCG? Or Mario Party? Or Lord of the Rings? Or Sim City?

I will give Nintendo credit where it's due: they do know how to run a TCG. They've done a pretty good job since they bought Pokemon* from Wizards. But I honestly have little faith in their ability to produce a good TCG. They didn't make the rules for Pokemon at all- they just took the rules Wizards had set and changed them around just a little bit. And it was already popular** when they got it.

* I'm going to keep using this as an example since it's the only TCG*** that Nintendo owns.
** I know this point is going to get knocked. "Wat r u tlking about? Pokemans only popular w/ 10 yr old kidz!!!!!!" Well, hundreds of people still attended the Pokemon world championships last year. And most of them were over 15. So deal with it.

I guess not. I thought you were referencing the Memory arc. Um.. Monster Capsule? Devastated.

Anyway, I'd totally play this. Make a program and have Expansion sets and stuff.

I don't really remember coming up with any rules or anything... I just recall thinking that it would be a really cool idea. It just seems so obvious to me.
