Life in prison is more torture than instant death. Live out your days doing the same, boring, repetetive task every day. Plus, it's cheaper than the death penalty. _________________

No, if you went to jail for killing someone, going to whichever religion you are's underworld would be more torture. _________________

Feeding somebody for 40+ years is cheaper than giving them a shot? |

"Death penalty trials are more expensive than ordinary murder trials. They entail more pre-trial preparation time, more attorneys, longer jury selections, more expert witnesses, and a heightened level of due process. They are 3 to 5 times longer, and the defendant is less likely to simply plead guilty to avoid a trial if there is a chance of being executed." _________________

that's 'cause of all the appeals from bleeding hearts like YOU.
If we reformed the death row procedures and took out all the crap that people like YOU put in there, then it WOULD be cheaper.

"Humanitarian" sounds nice. They always market bad ideas by giving them nice names.
Like utilitarianism.
Socialism.
Communism.
They all sound pretty nice...
they're bad. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

I'd say yes, but only in circumstances with absolutely concrete evidence to prove the acused is guilty. Like, just short of a confession evidence. If you put someone who's innocent away for 20 years and 10 years later you realise they didn't commit the crime, you can release them with compensation. Sure, that's ten years of thier life that they're never going to get back but hey, at least they arn't dead. _________________

Agreed.
(But Prison Break wouldn't be a good show if they did that.) |
