Recently my computer would not recognize my iPod mini. So I decided to uninstal the iPod software and reinstal it. During the reinstalation, the computer could not format the iPod. It would say "There was an error communicating with the iPod. Please disconnect and reconnect the device to try again." I did this several times and it would still not recognize it and format it. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I shouldn't say anything, cuz I don't know a solution...cuz I'm an idiot.....but the exact same thing happened to me, when I first got my iPod. I'd tell you what I did to fix it...but I honestly don't remember. I think I just kept trying and trying, and eventually it worked.

Have you tried reinstalling the software? That MIGHT do it.

Well, I tried everything they suggested on the apple site. Excpet to reformat because I was going to try that last. So, I tried a reformat and it failed. But now all my songs are wiped. I think its time for a new iPod. I mean look at this thing...

Its a piece of shit! And the glare of the scanner covers up all the scratches. But it certainly doesn't scratch like the new iPods.

chuck it. All Apple products are basically disposable, since they're a pain to repair or upgrade.

So yeah, get a new iPod... or better yet, get a competitor's product.

well, you didnt say that. but everytime the ipod comes up, you always drop creative's name.
