The guidelines for the portfolio said they had to be life drawings (i.e. not from a book) but I guess they wouldn't have a way to find out if I used one.

But yeah, I only need three. Most of the requirements are based around character design and using your imagination to be able to draw a room or object if it were under different lighting and at a different angle and stuff.

what's the real difference between drawing from life and drawing from photographs anyway? The photo captures exactly what you'd see in real life, and if you're drawing from a photo, the model's definitely going to remain still.

It's alot easier to judge size and shape when you're looking at a 2-D photograph. When you're looking at a 3-D model you need to account for perspective and all that.

So next weekend I'm hosting a 24-hour Comic Jam with a few friends while they're home for the holidays. I guess it's pretty self explainitory but I'll explain how it works anyway. What you do is try to complete a 24+ page comic with in 24 hours and then you read each other's/exchange them. It'll be good times.

I will scan them and post them here, so look out for that.

P.S. That's not how perspective works.

This is a fake video game character I invented last year as a sort of parody of what I would come up with when I was say 9 years old, anyway basically I drew him in a style that would appeal to Penguin publishers or that sort of thing. In the meantime you can use this picture to look at

well he's meant to look more like this as I imagine it:

I think that was about october last year, sort of similar to how I would have drawn it at the time I made up fake videogames (I may go in to this topic at a later date)

still got attitude, but much more of an early 90s Sonic rather than say current Sonic as an example
