My family has recently gotten involved with this program, meaning that starting in August, we're taking in an exchange student and she'll be living with us for ten months. We were given six bios of different girls who would like to come live with us and we're choosing the one we think would adjust to us best.

The girls are from South Korea, Germany (the only non-Asian one), Mongolia, China, Thailand, and Taiwan. They can all speak some English, but none of them very well.

Has anyone else ever done this before? I'm kind of nervous about it, really.

Oh, and Sharp, just to rub it in, I have a hot Asian girl staying with me and you don't.

Hey, from what I've heard from friends, these types of exchanges are always really fulfilling and enriching for those who take part in them. You should enjoy it, learn something new, and make a new friend!!

my uncle and aunt do that. They got a german girl named Sondra like 10 years ago...
and now they're doing it again and an austrian girl named Theresa is staying with them now.

They're both nice people.

I did this three or so years ago. But only for one month. It was pretty cool, the only real difficulty was the language barrier. And the jet lag. So I'd get an English - (whatever) dictionary. It will help lots.

And four Canadians. Apparently one of them plays hockey for Canada now.

Yuying arrived yesterday. When we picked her up from the airport, she was very tired. She didn't talk much, but occasionally gave us a 'yes' or a 'no' or a 'sorry' when she didn't understand. She almost fell asleep before we left the airport.

She seems like a sweet girl, though. I can't wait to get to know her better.
