Some of the best battles of the ancient world occured during August.
Including Cannae, which I already made a thread about, but some other gooduns too.
All of these are from the Greco-Persian wars. These wars were awesome and YOU SHOULD READ ABOUT THEM NOW.
August 11-14th, 480BC - Battle of Thermopylae. Greeks stal Persians for three days before many of them fight to the death.
August 11, 480BC - Battle of Artemisium. Similar stalling plan by Greeks, but naval.
August 12th, 490BC - Battle of Marathon, possible date. Greeks defeat first Persian invasion.
August 27th, 479BC - Battle of Plataea. Over 50,000 Greeks defeat about 100-200,000 Persians. A battle occuring at a similar time was Mycale.
(Another good battle that occured this month was Pharsalus between Caesar and Pompeii) _________________

But this isn't half as nerdy as talking about Super Smash brothers combos, or whatever the fuck you nerds were talking about. _________________

She has a point, nerdy isn't as historically correct as it is a sad indulgement in technology and games.
wait, what does that make me? _________________ "Everyone makes choices in this world, sometimes we choose right and sometimes we choose wrong, with that in mind no matter what we choose we should aim to have fun no matter what we are doing." Yazz |

I wasn't sure if "stal" was a typo for "stall" or "stalk". I guessed wrong apparently |

We're taught to fix the typo ourselves so other people don't have to guess what it is |
