When this game first came out in 1992, I instantly fell in love with it. I still comb the net every once in a while for remixes of its soundtrack, and I'm rarely disappointed, since the music is recognized as some of the best in gaming history.
Back in '02, the code got released for general use. I decided to download it and I'm playing through it again. Ah, the memories!
I'm pretty much convinced that everyone should play this game.

Ahh, The Ur-quan Masters. A PC port of the 3DO version with its nifty graphics...
did you have the original PC version? I have that somewhere... Did you see that some of the original composers have remixed some of their songs for the remix project?
yeah, the Star Control series was great. Shame SC4 never materialized. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

somebody released screenshots of a SC4 in progress in the late 90s... it looked cool, but never got any farther.
I'm sure Toys For Bob will get to it eventually or something. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

What a difference it makes to have internet access. Last time I had a serious try at this game, I was using a computer that didn't even have a modem. I would've been hard-pressed to even find a FAQ file about this game. I usually ended up spending all my time exploring and bumping around the galaxy until the pan-species genocide wiped me out.
Now I've not only found a decent place to ransack for Resource Units (the Volantis constellation, among others), but I've also made friends with the Orz and stumbled across the ruins containing the Taalo Shield. I don't think I've ever even found that before when I was looking for it.

yeah, I was lucky enough to have internet access back in ... 1994 or so when I first played this game.
I think this is the first game I ever used a FAQ for.
