well the show was excellent first of all, on its own- i met the drummer real quick beforehand too- but last week in brooklyn, ted leo played a karaoke show, where you could get on stage and play their songs with them or play any you pick from a list they put on their site. one of the songs they listed was 'nazi punks fuck off' by the dead kennedys. i learned to play it on bass last week just for the hell of it- then friday, i was dead center front row at the show. i was less than a yard away from him the whole time, and he made jokes with my friends and i through the whole show. then, about 3/4 of the way through, i yelled, 'nazi punks fuck off!' and he seriously stopped and laughed for a second, looked at me, and was like, "you wanna sing it?" and i said "uh" and he said "do you know the words" and i said "um" and the guitarist was like "do you know -most- of the words" and i fucking got on stage and sang nazi punks fuck off with ted leo in front of a packed house and i just fuckigngajfkjdskljksdjflksdjfklksdlfjaffadsfa my friend got it on video (camera, not a cell phone) and it'll be online soon and i fucked up most of the song but i don't give a shit it's the coolest thing i'll ever do ever _________________

That Mountain Jam festival actually looks like it would be pretty fun. Avett Brothers, My Morning Jacket, Bela Fleck, Portugal. The Man.
Although, to be honest, I hate jam music and would probably be miserable the rest of the weekend. I am imagining all the bands I have not heard of on the poster are Ben Harper clones. |

I'm sure you could find something decent at any given time. Warren Haynes is a legend, and plenty of the others are different, though I wouldn't expect them to appeal to everybody. |
