Like the numbers...why?
That somehow got explained, but outside of the show. The numbers are the coefficients of some equation that apparently calculates how long until humanity wipes itself out, and the Dharma initiative was working to change those numbers so they'd be able to avert catastrophe.
Why they kept showing up everywhere, even in non-Dharma stuff? I dunno.
I think the writers decided not to explain much at all in the end, but it was such a nice ending I decided not to care. _________________ Come into my den let me hear you cluck

Fair enough. I wasn't mad at the ending; I enjoyed it and thought it was pretty good. I just wondered about a few little things. But I heard that they're going to include a bunch of tidbits to de-bunk myths etc on the box set (when they release it), including what happened to Walt and a short feature about Hurley and Ben, post-Jack dying and making Hurley the protector of the Island.
