I play the bass as well. I've been playing for about 5 years. I never took lessons though. I don't like being taught something for some reason. I picked it up really quickly. I can play mosts songs and figure them out without tabbing them. I think its more fun to try and figure out a song for yourself than looking it up.

Whistling is the only thing I can do that even approaches musical talent. As far as whistling goes, I don't think I'm too shabby.

I play bass. I'm not very good.
Give me any sheet of music and I can play it. But ask me to improvise or read off tabs or charts and I run and hide.
