same reason every movie download site, warez site and music downloading site hasn't been shut down...
too many of them, a lot of them in different countries.

Rockman. Shut up. Nintendo has put out remakes of NES games. Those are illegal to download. They intend to put out more on the Wii. Those are illegal to download. You purchased a copy of a game, not copying rights. You don't have the right to back it up, just the right to buy a new one.

I wouldn't be getting remakes. I'd be getting stuff I couldn't obtain otherwise. I don't have the right to back it up?
Then apparentlt iTunes is an illegal program, since you don't have the right to back up purchased coppies of software. MP3 players are also illegal, since you're playing backed up software on a different device.
Any ways, fuck legality, that's not what this thread's about. On a side note though, you won't see me downloading relatively recent games.
I just found a kick ass pokemon silver rom that's been hacked to allow clock resetting, which is good for me (and many other people) who's emulators for one reason or another don't store time.

Emulators are perfectly legal.
Also, you have the right to back up your mp3s. Not games. Different product, different laws.

I legally own it though.
And specifically I meant games like, GBA emulators and up. Stuff that's still very well in the mainstream market.
