I don't use the writing recognition, 'cause my handwriting is terrible. It's pretty smart, though... it got most of my letters right. There's two letter pads, and you have to alternate. They do this so that if it misidentifies a letter/number/symbol, there's acually a tab on the bottom with other close matches that you can select.
I'm not sure if the recognition uses PDA writing gestures, and I don't know if I'd benefit from learning them.
I'll try it eventually.
And images both do and do not hamper loading times. It loads the text first, renders that, and then fills in all the blank image tags.
The filling of the image tags can sometimes take forever, and during that, the page jumps around... especially in Post Your Pix...
