To this point the worst day in my life was when my best friend, Mike, was killed. _________________

Yeah, I'm sure deaths are pretty much up there. I think my friend Andrew's suicide has wrecked me pretty hard.
...or I could be a prick and say "Bush's election and reelection". _________________

When my mum's dad and my dad's mum both died within two days last year. That really hurt a lot. _________________

When I was working as a paramedic, and we got an "infant not breathing" call. We just finished breakfast when we got the call, and we rushed out of our station, and fired up the rig, turned on the lights and went on our way. I thought it was going to be a baby choking call and mostly the dispatchers help the moms perform the heimlich. It struck me as odd when I saw the address, it rang a bell, but I put it out of my mind because I had other things to think about. We got into the area which was really familiar to me because my 3 month old nephew's babysitters home was....Oh my gawd!!! My world did a 360, and a topsy turvy. We pulled up to the residence and I HAD to gather all my strength not to fucking lose it. Then and only then my partner was informed by "maria", the babysitter that the victim was my nephew. I couldnt tell him because A) It didnt hit me until we drove up to the house, and B) I needed to keep my senses while on the job because if I lost it, it wouldnt help my partner. Maria was telling me as she was crying that Daniel, my nephw wasn't breathing. I rushed into his room and looked into the crib. I knew he was gone at the site of him. He was pale, and levitity had set in (levitity is a post mortem condition when blood pools in the body at the bottom of the position of the body. It looks like a dark bruise) I felt him, and he was cold to the touch. I took him immediately and started CPR (protocol). In the rig, on the way to the hospital, I just held him, praying. At the hospital, my family was there and they approached me with tears in their eyes. I dont remember what happened after that, but I woke up on a gurney in an exam room. I fainted. The days that followed was in a haze with me. I was put on a months leave due to family loss. It was THE WORST time of my life. It was in 1989, but still I have bad dreams of it from time to time. _________________ MY BARF is TASTIER than Yours!!!

Yeah that story makes the shit that happens to me seem really juvenile by comparison.
Like this one time I got a parking ticket, this other time they snapped me doing 92 in an 80 zone, etc.
Doesn't quite compare, somehow. _________________

For some time I kinda blamed myself, thinking on how we couldve gotten there sooner. Since I usually keep alot of stuff to myself, this habit led to my early burnout 4 years later.
I'm doing ok now, but usually around December 27th (my brothers birthday, and the date of Daniels death) I get a little depressed, but as I said Im ok now. This whole thing that happened resulted in my brothers divorce.
daniel died on the 27th, and the burial took place on January 5th, because the grave diggers was off for the holidays. A fucking sucky ending to a sucky year. _________________ MY BARF is TASTIER than Yours!!!
