You're missing one key point here: Schiavo, while she was still conscious, mentioned to her husband that if she ever ended up in such a state she would have wanted to be euthanized. I think that should carry fairly large sway in one's decision here.

Forcing death, sure, that could be a bad thing. But she would have died naturally had they not been keeping her hooked up to tubes. In a way she was being forced to live...
