I don't think that's true at all. Just because we find simple things amusing doesn't mean we're loosing intelligence. All it proves is that America isn't all elitist about comedy. Low brow comedy can be appreciated by all. I personally fear a day when we are above this kind of humor. That will be the day I leave.

yeah, too many people deny what they find funny already because it's not accepted as "high art" or whatever the fuck. that's just stupid, people shouldnt craft their tastes based on what other people think. and where's the logic in judging someone's intelligence based on what they find funny? i go to comedies to escape anyway, not watch it because it's critically acclaimed oscar bullshit or whatever. this doesnt mean i dont enjoy subtle humor (i like wes anderson a lot), but liking high and low brow comedies shouldnt be totally exclusive to each other.
of course i forgot that everyone who watches jackass is a total moron who want to emulate every stunt in the movie. whoops.
