Sometimes swords are cheap pieces of flimsy iron that are sold for $100 and would break if used in combat!

swords have actually been used in the 20th century, by the Japanese, some African and Middle Eastern peoples, and also by many police forces. They were also used in some frequency during Colonial ages.
My favourite sword is the Greek kopis, most frequently used 5th-3rd century BCE.
The Iberians adopted it from Greek colonists in Spain and referred to it more famously as the 'Falcata'.

I like mythological swords, most notably, Uther and Arthur Pendragon's Excalibur. I wish I were a myth, so I could go get a sword like that.
