Also, I have a wakizashi, but it's machine-made. It's way too much money to buy an actual hand-crafted Japanese sword these days. Sad

Yeah a good folded and forged steel sword nowadays would cost 1650bucks. I paid almost as much for one of mine

Does that include the tsuba, hilt, scabbard, and other furnishings? I bet it would be pretty expensive for a nice laquered scabbard too.

The hamon has to be my favorite part of the katana. I love how each one is different. I especially like when they change drastically in pattern on the same blade. Smile

You'd be surprised at how little you can pay for a non-pretend sword. I got turned onto this place by my brother:

http://www.kingofswords.com/index.php/cPath/474

Everything from practical to rediculous (and yes, you can even get a Keyblade there).

Even if they're factory made, that's still pretty awesome.

nice kopis from this place:

however, for historical armour and weapons, I'd recommend www.manningimperial.com more than anything else.

I have a tendancy to throw historicity out the window and go with things that I simply think are cool, when it comes to swords.

There is something to be said for a good, authentic sharpened stick, though.
