you do realize that U2 have always been one of the few bands that constantly reinvents themselves, unlike their peers such as the RHCP that always bring out the same sub-funk shit every four years?
okay, so maybe U2's last few albums have sucked balls, but by no means have they given up without a yelp, and yes, they have been versatile, very versatile indeed. try listening to boy, war, the joshua tree, achtung baby and pop. YOU WILL THINK THEY'RE ALL BY DIFFERENT BANDS, NO KIDDING.
U2's job was never to be experimental like TMBG, but at least they're not nearly as pretentious lol.
